Ye Shiwen wins women's 200 individual medley at world championships

SHANGHAI - Ye Shiwen of China powered home on the final freestyle leg to win the women's 200-meter individual medley at the world swimming championships.

Ye overtook world record holder Ariana Kukors of the United States, who led at the halfway mark, to finish in 2 minutes, 08.90 seconds. Alicia Coutts of Australia won her second silver medal of the night in 2:09.00, while Kukors took the bronze in a time of 2:09.12.
