Phelps wins men's 100 butterfly gold at world championships

SHANGHAI - Michael Phelps won his third gold medal of the world championships, defending his title in the 100-meter butterfly.

Phelps came from third place after 50 metres to finish in 50.71 seconds. Phelps also has two silvers and a bronze in his medal haul here.

Konrad Czerniak of Poland took the silver Saturday in 51.15 while American Tyler McGill earned bronze in 51.26.

Jason Dunford of Kenya, who led after the first lap, finished fourth.
