Two separate incidents involving Canadian planes have led to inconveniences for hundreds of passengers in Toronto and Quebec City but no injuries.

Earlier in the evening, a WestJet plane carrying 106 people made an unexpected landing at the Quebec City airport after the plane's cabin filled up with smoke.

The plane was travelling from Edmonton to Quebec City, with a stopover in Toronto.

Quebec City airport officials say they were examining the plane, but it was too early to say what caused the problem.

Later in the evening, at Toronto's Pearson International Airport, a plane carrying 265 passengers left the runway around 11 p.m. ET.

Angela Mah, an Air Canada spokeswoman, told CBC that the plane, destined for Frankfurt, accidentally taxied onto the grass. this evening.

It was uncertain how the incident happened.
