Saint Amable Mobile Home Collapse Kills Two

SAINT-AMABLE, Que. - Two men are dead and a third is in critical condition after a mobile home collapsed on top of them southeast of Montreal.

The work accident occurred Friday afternoon in Saint-Amable.

Capt. Yanic Parent of the Richelieu-Saint-Laurent police force says the residence was apparently aloft to allow them to work on insulation underneath it and then dropped down upon them.

"It made them prisoners," he said of the pinned men, who had to be pried free by emergency workers. They were then rushed to hospital.

"They were badly injured," Parent said of the men's condition when they were pulled out.

Parent says police are trying to determine why it collapsed.

Police say one of the dead men was in his mid-30s and the other in his mid-40s.

No residents were inside the home at the time.
