Wales back Morgan Stoddart to miss World Cup after breaking leg in warmup loss to England

TWICKENHAM, England - Wales back Morgan Stoddart will miss the World Cup after breaking his leg in his team's first warmup against England.

The 26-year-old Stoddart was only playing at Twickenham because flyhalf Stephen Jones injured his calf in the warmup.

Filling in at fullback to allow Rhys Priestland to switch to flyhalf, Stoddart seemed to get hurt when his own teammates piled on top of him in an effort to retain possession.

Wales captain Sam Warburton says "it looks like a bad break."

Jones' prematch injury did not appear to be serious, Wales coach Warren Gatland says. Jones was left out as a precaution because "if he had torn the calf, that is six weeks out."
