ATLANTA - The Chicago Cubs agreed to terms Friday with the son of hockey great Wayne Gretzky.
Trevor Gretzky was the Cubs' seventh-round pick out of Oaks Christian High School in Westlake Village, Calif., at June's amateur draft.
The six-foot-four first baseman had committed to play at San Diego State but instead will start his professional career with the Cubs.
Cubs spokesman Peter Chase said Friday the team hasn't decided where Gretzky will begin his minor league career.
"The Cubs are thrilled to welcome Trevor Gretzky to the organization," general manager Jim Hendry said in a release. "It was a pleasure working with the Gretzky family on this contract and we are excited by Trevor's decision to begin his pro baseball career with the Cubs."
