JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Jaguars defensive tackle Terrance Knighton, who arrived at training camp more than 20 pounds overweight, is taking part in drills for the first time.
Knighton participated in the team's morning walkthough and has been cleared to practice.
Knighton says he's "340-ish," still leaving him some pounds to shed before getting to the 335 pounds that coaches feel is his best playing weight.
A third-round pick from Temple in 2009, Knighton has been on a strict diet and exercise program the last two weeks. He passed his conditioning test before camp, but a high heart rate prompted team athletic trainers to be cautious about putting him on the field in sweltering heat and humidity.
