Municipalities group says they need help from Manitoba government

WINNIPEG - The president of the Association of Manitoba Municipalities says communities across the province need help.

Doug Dobrowolski went from town to town over the last couple of weeks listening to what community members see as the most important issues.

He says infrastructure needs to be developed to accommodate housing.

Dobrowolski says people in Portage la Prairie and Lorette told him there are developers lined up ready to build, but they're being turned away due to a lack of serviced land.

There was also concern about the need to expand water lines where municipalities don't have the money to do it.

Seventy per cent of Manitoba municipalities have passed resolutions calling on all political parties to commit a portion of existing PST revenue to repairing and upgrading infrastructure.
