Jays shortstop Yunel Escobar leaves game after being hit on the elbow

TORONTO - Shortstop Yunel Escobar of the Toronto Blue Jays is listed as day-to-day with an elbow injury after being hit by a pitch in Saturday's game against the Baltimore Orioles.

Escobar left in the second inning after being hit on the left elbow by a pitch from Rick VandenHurk.

Escobar was in obvious pain as he was tended to by a team trainer and left the game almost immediately. He had an x-ray, which was negative.

Mike McCoy came on to run for Escobar and took over for him at shortstop.

Escobar is batting .290 on the season with 11 homers and 48 RBIs.
