Calvillo threw for 421 yards and four touchdowns in leading Montreal to a 43-13 home win over the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. The win moved the Alouettes into sole possession of second place in the East Division standings.
Defensive tackle Khalif Mitchell of the B.C. Lions was named the top defensive player. Mitchell had three sacks and tied a career high with five tackles in his club's 28-6 home victory over the Toronto Argonauts.
Lions kicker Paul McCallum captured special-teams honours for the second this time year. McCallum hit all four field goals he attempted against Toronto and also averaged 45.3 yards on his four punts.
Craig Butler, a rookie safety with the Saskatchewan Roughriders, was named the top Canadian. The former Western Ontario Mustangs star had two interceptions, six tackles, a sack and recovered a fumble in a 45-23 road win over the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
