Hundreds more nurses, money for nurses' training, promised by Manitoba NDP

WINNIPEG - New Democrats in Manitoba are promising to hire 2,000 more nurses over the next four years.

NDP Leader Greg Selinger says if he's re-elected in next month's provincial election, he will increase funding for nurses and training spots in nursing schools.

Selinger is also promising to pay the full tuition of nursing students who agree to work in rural or northern areas after graduation.

He says the promises will cost $74 million over four years.

Manitobans go to the polls on Oct. 4.
