Manitoba Liberals says standards are needed at personal care homes

WINNIPEG - Manitoba Liberals are promising tougher standards at personal care homes.

Liberal Leader Jon Gerrard says he would legislate standards and targeted outcomes to protect elderly residents.

He says he would to stop the practice of prescribing anti-psychotic drugs as a method to restrain senior residents.

Gerrard is also promising to hire nursing home inspectors, starting with four in the first year.

Manitobans go to the polls Oct. 4.
