More ambulances, more paramedics, longer hours at health centres:Manitoba Tories

WINNIPEG - Manitoba Tories are promising more ambulances, more paramedics and longer hours at community health centres.

Tory Leader Hugh McFadyen (mihk-FAH'-din) says if he's elected Oct. 4, he would extend closing time at community care centres from 4:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.

McFadyen also says he would add five ambulances and 60 paramedics to the fleet in Winnipeg.

McFadyen says he would also set up a specialized stroke unit at a hospital.

He says such a unit could reduce the number of stroke fatalities by 30 per cent.

He says the cost of his promises would be $23 million a year, plus an $8-million dollar, one-time cost to set up the stroke unit.
