Liberal MP Justin Trudeau speaks with newly elected Conservative MP Ryan Leef. Leef beat Trudeau's colleague Larry Bagnell in the Yukon riding in May.

The two were among one hundred MPs and journalists invited to Kingsmere, the residence of the Speaker of the House of Commons, Tuesday night for a social event.

Speaker Andrew Scheer, his wife Jill and their four young children have yet to move into the white farmhouse in the Gatineau hills.

The home was purchased by former prime minister William Lyon Mackenzie King and he died there on July 22, 1950.

Mrs. Scheer told The Huffington Post Canada that the small bed where King died had been moved out of the house. The National Capital Commission is currently painting and renovating the property, adding, among other things, a wheelchair accessible bathroom.
