Producer plans to turn new book about Russell Williams into feature film

TORONTO - A forthcoming book about the crimes of Russell Williams may be turned into a feature film.

Richard Lowry Productions Inc. has acquired the rights to "Camouflaged Killer: The Shocking Double Life of Canadian Air Force Colonel Russell Williams" by David A. Gibb.

The book is being released by Penguin Group Canada on Oct. 4.

Penguin says the book "uncovers previously unknown information" about the notorious killer.

Williams was a rising star in the military and commander at Canadian Forces Base Trenton before being sentenced to life in prison for the murders of two eastern Ontario women, a pair of sexual assaults and dozens of fetish break-ins.

Production on the film adaptation of the book is expected to begin next year.
