Paul Leroux, Former Residential School Supervisor, Charged In Abuse Of 13 Boys 50 Years Ago

BEAUVAL, Sask. - A former dormitory supervisor is accused of abusing boys at a northern Saskatchewan residential school 50 years ago.

RCMP have charged the man with 13 counts of indecent assault between 1960 and 1967.

The alleged victims were between three and 18 years old and were attending the Beauval (boh-vahl) Indian Residential School.

Sgt. Paul Dawson says RCMP began their investigation in March 2008 and laid the charges last month.

Paul Leroux of Vancouver faces charges under the Criminal Code that was in effect during the 1960s.

Leroux, who is 70, is to appear in provincial court in the small aboriginal community on Oct. 19.
