New poll for Winnipeg Free Press suggests tight race in Manitoba election

WINNIPEG - A new poll suggests the Manitoba election is a close race, with the NDP holding a big edge in Winnipeg.

The Probe Research poll for the Winnipeg Free Press suggests NDP support is at 46 per cent — three points ahead of the support for the Progressive Conservatives.

In Winnipeg, home to most of the legislature seats, the poll gives the NDP 53 per cent support to the Tories' 35 per cent.

The Liberals, meanwhile, registered just seven per cent provincewide.

Probe Research polled 1,000 Manitobans by phone between Sept. 21 and 28.

The results are considered accurate to within plus or minus 3.1 per cent, 19 times out of 20.
