Whitecaps might leave roof open at BC Place for soccer rain or shine

VANCOUVER - The Vancouver Whitecaps haven't decided if they will close the roof at BC Place Stadium for Wednesday's M-L-S game against D-C United.

Whitecaps president Bob Lenarduzzi says he doesn't think weather conditions should affect a soccer game.

What Lenarduzzi is worried about is fans watching the game indoors might get wet.

When the retractable roof at BC Place is open, the hole is about the size of the playing field. Whitecaps officials don't know if rain coming through this hole will fall on fans.

Lenarduzzi says the Whitecaps will experiment with the roof during their final two homes games this year and possibly the first few games of next year.
