Along with taxes, it is life's other certainty.
Yet many of us feel awkward talking about death: We dance around the subject and use euphemisms like "passing on" and "crossing over" to describe the final act. A funeral home visit is about as much fun as a root canal.
Canadian comedian Ron James holds no such qualms. In this bit of standup, James looks the Grim Reaper square in the eye and mocks the rest of us too squeamish to speak the truth about our mortality. He's got a few choice words for funeral directors, especially those who try to up-sell elaborate mahogany coffins and feather pillows for the corpse.
"If we really wanted our dead to be comfortable in the afterlife, we wouldn't bury 'em in a suit and tie," James says. "Just slap 'em in a Snuggie and send them on their way."
Wait until to you hear James' idea of a perfect send-off at the end of the clip. We'd hoist a pint to that!
