Two men shot dead at east-end shopping mall

OTTAWA - A convicted drug dealer and another man are dead after a shooting at a quiet, east-end shopping mall.

Police are being tight-lipped about the killings, which happened about 8:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Shoppers at the Gloucester Centre mall reported hearing loud pops before police arrived.

There are no suspects in custody and the major crimes unit is investigating.

One of the victims has been identified as 35-year-old Graham Thomas.

The second victim was 32-year-old Jason Chapman.

Thomas is listed as a co-owner of a tanning spa in the mall.

In 2000, Thomas was sentenced to 2 1/2 years after pleading guilty to drug and weapons charges.

The deaths are Ottawa's eighth and ninth homicides of the year.
