Windsor shuts down rest home after complaint; residents moved to other facilities

WINDSOR, Ont. - Residents are being moved out of a downtown Windsor rest home because of health and safety concerns.

The 17 residents living at La Maison Royale are being moved to other facilities in Windsor.

Licence Commissioner Valerie Critchley says the city decided to take the drastic step after a resident filed a complaint last week.

City officials aren't saying much about the alleged violations other than they are related to the dispensing of medication.

The owner is entitled to a hearing before Windsor's licencing commission within the next 14 days.
