Canadian aid worker wounded in shooting in Haiti; 'tragic incident,' Oda says

OTTAWA - International Co-operation Minister Bev Oda is calling the shooting of a Canadian aid worker in Haiti a "tragic incident."

Media reports say Francklin Guerrier was wounded and another man was killed on Friday while they were driving in the capital Port Au Prince.

One media report says Guerrier's injuries are not considered life-threatening.

In a statement Oda says her thoughts and prayers are with Guerrier's family.

She says the government is working with consular officials to ensure the family gets support in this time of need.

Guerrier is working for a unit funded by the Canadian International Development Agency that supports the delivery of aid to Haiti.

The reason for the attack is not known.
