Man accused of leading police on a truck chase remanded in custody

MILTON, Ont. - A man accused of leading police on a pursuit along some of southern Ontario's busiest highways in a stolen tractor-trailer was remanded in custody today.

Jason Meadus, 40, of Brampton, Ont., appeared in a Milton court to face a total of 10 charges that include flight from police, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, mischief endangering life and driving while disqualified.

His bail hearing was set for Nov. 10.

Police say the flatbed truck was stolen in the Niagara region Monday morning and travelled to London before turning around.

The drama played out on live TV for several hours before the truck pulled over in the afternoon near Burlington.

Police say no one was injured, no vehicles were damaged and the driver was taken into custody without incident.
