Oshawa Ambulance Explodes After Hitting Hydro Pole (VIDEO)

WATCH: Ambulance Explodes After Hitting Hydro Pole

A private ambulance exploded after hitting a hydro pole in Oshawa, Ontario. The fire and subsequent explosion were caught on video by those at the scene.

The accident, which occurred on Saturday, Oct. 29th, briefly took out power in part of the city.

"An ambulance clipped a hydro pole, and then the oxygen tanks exploded, the entire vehicle is just in flames, they've closed the road off, the hydro is out in the area," a caller told local radio station 680 news.

CityNews reported that two ambulance attendants suffered minor injuries in the crash but were later released from hospital.

"It's just bizarre because the road is a good road. I don't know why they would hit the pole," witness Alison Prentice told the news site.

News site Storyful spotted user video from the crash that showed the vehicle on fire and then exploding. According to those who shot the video the ambulance may have been on fire for at least 30 minutes.

Photos from the scene were also posted on Twitter:
