MONTREAL - Quebecor Inc. (TSX:QBR.A) says its net income in the third quarter amounted to $26.1 million, or 41 cents per basic share.
That was down from $56.9 million, or 88 cents per share, in the third quarter of 2010.
Revenue during the quarter, however, was up $44.9 million to $1.01 billion, compared to $969.9 million in the same quarter last year.
Quebecor says its Videotron unit recorded the largest quarterly customer growth since its acquisition by Quebecor Media in 2000.
Videotron added 168,700 revenue-generating units and recorded a net increase of 43,500 cable television customers.
The company also saw a net increase of 47,500 subscriber connections to the mobile telephone service, the largest quarterly increase since the service was launched.
Note to readers: This is a corrected story. A previous version had the wrong figures for revenue in 2010.
