SASKATOON - Clean hospital linens are in short supply in the Saskatoon Health Region because part of its central laundry has been shut down.
The health region says a hoist carrying laundry bags fell from the ceiling last week.
No one was hurt but washing and drying operations have been shut down temporarily as a safety precaution.
A health region spokesperson says disposable linens are being used when clean reusable ones aren’t available and supplies are being shifted as needed.
The Region is also sending laundry to other cities.
The usual infection control measures, including proper cleaning of patient areas, is still in effect.
