LABRADOR CITY, N.L. - A small helicopter crashed Saturday in a wooded area near Labrador City, but the only person on board has walked away without serious injuries.
Const. Stephen Fitzgerald of the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary says a 54-year-old male pilot was on board the Eurocopter AS350 helicopter.
Fitzgerald said the man was taken to hospital and released a few hours later after being examined.
Julie Laroux, a spokeswoman for the Transportation Safety Board, said the board has an investigator looking into the situation but will not be conducting a full inquiry.
Fitzgerald said the crash happened at about 8:40 a.m. local time on Saturday morning in a wooded area next to Rose Lake, which is about 10 kilometres west of Labrador City.
