Saskatchewan premier says little lobbying, more munching at receptions

REGINA - Premier Brad Wall says eating cheese at a reception will not lead the Saskatchewan government to pass policy changes.

Wall was answering questions about lobbying and access to decision-makers after Saskatchewan Party MLAs, cabinet ministers and staff went to a party Monday night.

The party was hosted by four companies, including an accounting firm and an oil corporation.

The invitation was to celebrate "Moving Saskatchewan Forward," which was also the Saskatchewan Party's recent election campaign slogan.

Wall says there are snacks at such parties, but not a lot of lobbying that occurs.

However, the premier adds it might be something for a legislative committee to review as it looks at creating a lobbyist registry in Saskatchewan.
