A series of accidents between pedestrians and Calgary C-Trains has police sending out a grim warning to that city's citizens. Watch where you're going.
Rush hour traffic was snarled on Wednesday when a man was hit and pinned by a C-train. He was sent to hospital and police say he survived his injuries.
Another Calgarian was not so lucky, earlier this week, 49-year-old Karnail Kaur Brar was killed when she was hit by a C-train. Police say she may have been distracted by a hand-held device.
"I honestly don't know what else we can do," area Alderman Ray Jones told Postmedia News, pointing out the intersection is brightly-lit and has plenty of safety marking.
Police have stepped up their safety blitz by releasing videos showing a collision between a man and a train last month. He survived the crash.
The first video, above, shows the man walking unaware of the train pulling into the stop. The second video shows the reactions of nearby pedestrians the moment he was hit off-camera.
Calgary's Transit system is in the midst of conducting a safety review after a rash of pedestrian-train collisions.
According to reports 66 people have been killed in Calgary train collisions since 1981.
