Saskatchewan NDP worried about data release from government computers

REGINA - The opposition is raising fears about unauthorized release of personal information from Saskatchewan government computers.

The NDP is particularly worried that information would be shared with the U.S. government.

Tim McMillan, the minister in charge, says the government considers it a low risk.

He says with every contract, in every way possible, it's their intention to ensure the data of the people of Saskatchewan is secure.

Data storage for both the federal and provincial governments is contracted out to U.S.-owned subsidiaries.
