The Perfect Lip Looks For Mistletoe Season

Around this time of year, my lips feel pretty much like sandpaper, which doesn’t make them inviting for encounters under the mistletoe. Here are my tips for taking my sandpaper-lips to soft and supple and achieving the perfect lipstick look:

Moisturize!

Your lips need some good lip balm lovin’ during these cold months. I’m loving Mèreadesso’s Lip Treats. The adequately named lip balm is a definite treat for my lips -- in fact, it’s so addictive I apply it numerous times a day (and these lips aren’t complaining!). Lip Treats are actually packaged as two full-sized balms, and as much as I love it and can’t part with my own lip treat, I insisted my fiancé take the other -- because kissing isn’t just one-way, right?

Use A Lipbrush

Nobody wants to get caught in a goopy lip-lock. I like to use a lipbrush to apply lipstick sparingly for a stained-like effect.

Fine Line

The bolder lip colours of the season can lead to lipstick travelling into the skin around the mouth -- and that’s never a good look on anyone. Yes, there’s lipliner to help combat this, but rather than having a different lipliner to match every lipstick you own, there’s also this genius thing called a reverse lip liner. I love Cargo’s Reverse Lip Liner -- not only does it helps in the battle against feathering, but this skin-toned lipliner also doubles as a corrector for lip lines that have gone askew.

I like to use it as an eraser to give a sharper shape to the round-ish inner bow of my lips -- and ta-da -- a perfect pout (with a little product help!).
