Hundreds of travellers whose flight from Toronto to India was delayed three days finally departed at noon Monday, but it will mean more delays for other passengers.
Air India Flight 188 was about to take off on Friday when technical problems forced the Boeing 777 jet back to the terminal at Pearson airport.
More than 300 passengers had to leave the aircraft and spend the weekend in the Toronto area. Air India handed out hotel vouchers and returned people's luggage, but many passengers complained that the process was lengthy and that they weren't kept in the loop.
When they came back to the airport after their departure was initially rescheduled for Sunday night, customers were told it was delayed again until Monday at 11:50 a.m. A fracas broke out at Terminal 1 but ended quickly without incident.
Travellers originally scheduled on Air India's Monday flight from Toronto to Delhi have been bumped to Tuesday.
