Figure skater Patrick Chan has won the Lionel Conacher Award as The Canadian Press male athlete of the year for 2011. Here's a look at Chan's season:

Born — Dec. 31, 1990, in Ottawa. Lives both in Toronto and his training base in Colorado Springs, Colo.

World championships — Chan recorded three world scoring records en route to winning the 2011 world championships by a whopping 22 points.

Grand Prix Circuit — Chan's undefeated season included victories at Skate Canada International, and the Trophee Eric Bompard. He capped the year with a second straight victory at the Grand Prix Final.

Canadian championships — Chan collected his fourth straight Canadian title, landing two quad jumps for the first time in his long program.

Off the ice — Chan is fluent in English, French and Cantonese. He also skis, plays tennis and golf, and mountain bikes.
