Hobbema Stabbing Victim Dies

A man who was stabbed over the weekend on a First Nation reserve south of Edmonton has died.

RCMP in Hobbema say they were called at about 7:40 p.m. Saturday to a home on the Samson Cree Nation, where they found a 34-year-old man with multiple stab wounds. He later died in hospital.

Charges are pending against a 30-year-old woman who was in the home, police said.

No names were released.

Violence has been a problem on the four reserves that surround Hobbema, and some residents have said gang violence has gotten out of control.

RCMP, however, said in a news release Sunday that they believe the weekend incident was "domestic related.”
