Doctor search continues as Saskatchewan hospitals still alternating ER times

WYNYARD, Sask. - A search continues to help ease a doctor shortage that has forced two Saskatchewan communities to alternate emergency room schedules.

Only two doctors were left after three physicians in Wynyard left in September.

The two remaining practitioners joined with two doctors in nearby Wadena to split on-call ER duties.

The Saskatoon Health Region says discussions continue to recruit doctors to the towns.

Shan Landry, vice-president of community services, says no one has been signed up yet, but there could be positive news by March.

The health region has used newspapers, flyers and a toll-free phone line to inform residents of when the emergency rooms are open.
