Latest round of Vancouver riot court appearances, but most suspects absent

VANCOUVER - The latest round of accused Stanley Cup rioters have made their first court appearances, with their cases being put off for now.

Seven people had court appearances Wednesday for participating in a riot, along with a mix of other charges including breaking and entering, mischief and assault.

Timothy Kwong, 30, of Burnaby; Dylan Long, 19, of Surrey; Alexander Peepre, 20, of Vancouver; Lincoln Kennedy Williams, 21, of Delta; John Sawicki, 19, of Surrey; and Jensen White, 21, of Seattle all made first appearances and had their cases put off for several weeks.

White appeared in person, while the rest were represented in court by their lawyers.

Oliver Burke had a hearing to fix a court date, but it was also put off until later.

To date, Crown counsel has approved 215 riot-related charges against 28 people, although Vancouver police have suggested hundreds more could also face charges.
