C. Difficile Bacteria: Two Deaths At Cape Breton Hospital

SYDNEY, N.S. - Officials with the Cape Breton Regional Health Authority say two people with C. difficile have died in hospital.

CTV News reports that one person who acquired the bacteria at Cape Breton Regional Hospital died, but not directly because of the infection.

Another person who contracted it before entering the hospital died from the bacteria.

Nine patients are reportedly being treated for hospital-acquired C. difficile.

Greg Boone of the health authority says they've identified areas where there were possible breaks in precautions against spreading the bacteria.
