Tiger-Cats hire Cortez as new head coach

George Cortez has been hired as the new head coach of the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.

The former offensive coordinator with the Calgary Stampeders spent the past two years as the quarterback coach with the Buffalo Bills.

Rumours of the Cats' interest in Cortez, who owns four Grey Cup rings as a coach, began a week ago when the team obtained quarterback Henry Burris from the Stamps. Cortez had been a key in turning Burris into an MVP pivot in Calgary.
