Victoria nurse allegedly stole from patients

A former psychiatric nurse at Victoria's Royal Jubilee Hospital has been arrested for allegedly stealing from patients.

Vancouver Island Health Authority spokeswoman Shannon Marshall says the employee was arrested last month and a criminal investigation is underway.

"The fact that vulnerable adults may have been victims of crime by one of our employees is greatly concerning to us. But we can confirm that the employee has been terminated," said Marshall.

The nurse worked at the hospital's Psychiatric Intensive Care and Psychiatric Emergency units most recently, but was an employee for the health authority for a number of years.

Police say no charges have been laid yet but they are investigating multiple incidences including possible charge of criminal breach of trust.
