Almost 30,000 Hydro-Québec customers are without power after strong winds rattled much of southern Quebec.
Hydro-Québec said crews restored electricity for about half of the Montreal clients affected Wednesday afternoon.
Blustery winds and freezing temperatures left more than 80,000 homes and businesses in Quebec without power Wednesday.
Crews are working on the problem, but the high winds have made their work more difficult.
A wind warning that was issued for parts of southern Quebec was cancelled just after 6 a.m. Winds were expected to reach around 100 km/h.
Transport Quebec wasn’t reporting any significant road troubles in and around Montreal.
There are, however, some delays and cancellations reported at the Montreal-Trudeau airport.
Travellers are advised to check the status of their flight before heading out.
Several schools will remain closed on Wednesday due to the weather conditions and power outages.
