Birmingham knocks Wolves out of FA Cup with 1-0 win in third-round replay

LONDON - Midfielder Wade Elliott scored as Birmingham knocked Premier League squad Wolverhampton Wanderers out of the FA Cup with a 1-0 third-round replay win Wednesday.

Elliott initially hit the post from a corner but converted the rebound in the 74th minute after a follow-up effort had been blocked as well. The victory means the League Championship club will visit Sheffield United in the next round.

It also gave Birmingham a measure of revenge after being relegated from the Premier League last season when a loss in the final round allowed Wolves to stay up.

In Wednesday's other match, Brighton advanced by beating Wrexham 5-4 in a penalty shootout after the game ended 1-1 following extra time.
