Foul Weather Blows Through Quebec

A winter storm sweeping across Eastern Quebec and the Maritimes brought a messy mix of freezing rain, snow, hail and wind to the region, causing air and road traffic delays.

Between 10 and 20 centimetres of snow are expected in Quebec City, with smaller accumulations forecast for outlying regions.

Rain and freezing snow fell on Montreal Friday, leaving a slick coat of slush and ice on many roads and highways.

Several flights to and from Montreal's Trudeau airport were delayed or cancelled.

Foul weather forced organizers at Quebec City's Carnival to delay opening night festivities.

Organizers said they're concerned about safety, given the snowy road conditions.
