Greg Etue, the husband of an Ottawa TV anchor, has been found dead after going missing two weeks ago.

The man was missing since Jan. 16. He had multiple sclerosis and cancer. Police at the time had said that he left home that morning in his 2008 Pontiac van, but had not been seen since.

CTV Ottawa reported that he had been found near Killaloe, Ont., about 160 kilometres west of Ottawa. His body was found inside the van, the Ottawa Citizen reports.

Richard Gray, VP and general manager at CTV Ottawa, where Etue’s wife, Carol Anne Meehan, worked said it was an “extremely sad story”.

"Carol Anne and her family are absolutely devastated as they were continuing to hope that her husband Greg would return home safe and sound," he said, according to the report.

Tributes, meanwhile, were pouring into the CTV Ottawa website:

"Closure" is an overrated word, but at least we can be grateful that the time of terrifying uncertainty is over and Greg has come home. Your CTV Ottawa "family" mourns with you, Carol Anne, and we hope that somehow you and the children feel that support and find some comfort there. Read more tributes here
