Quebec Parents Brace For Daycare Strike

Parents are scrambling to find daycare for hundreds of children attending early-childhood centres that won't be open Monday.

Childcare workers affiliated with the CSN union federation are staging a one-day walk-out on Monday.

That will close some 90 early-childhood centres in Montreal, in the Montérégie and in La Mauricie.

Negotiations continue but Louise Labrie – who speaks for the labour federation – says there are still key outstanding issues.

In other regions, childcare workers are close to settling new contracts, nearly two years after their last collective agreement expired.
