Costello Tagliapietra shows variety of dress shapes at NY Fashion Week

NEW YORK, N.Y. - Design duo Costello Tagliapietra paired prints with sleek silhouettes for the line's fall collection that debuted at New York Fashion Week.

Jeffrey Costello and Robert Tagliapietra used an almost spiny flower print and a wavy stripe print in many of their more than two dozen looks. They combined colours from a muted brown and pink to bold blue and purple.

The designers used an eco-friendly sustainable process called AirDye, which uses no water, to make the prints.

There were a variety of dress shapes including deep V-necks and high-draped necklines, short wrap dresses and long, one-shoulder gowns.

Those caught the eye of "Top Chef" host Padma Lakshmi, who sat in the front row at Thursday's show with actress Susan Sarandon. Lakshmi said she looks to the designers for "classic lines and beautiful figure-flattering dresses that are timeless."

The collection wasn't only prints. The designers included several light green, lavender and grey dresses in the same assorted styles.
