Saskatchewan First Nation gaming group has 19 per cent hike in profits in 3Q

SASKATOON - There's a lot of gambling going on in Saskatchewan.

Saskatchewan Indian Gaming Authority is doing a lot of the winning.

The gaming authority reported a 19 per cent increase in profit in its third quarter.

SIGA has a $62 million profit so far this fiscal year.

CEO Zane Hanson credits the profit to a strong economy, mild weather and a successful harvest.

Profits generated from SIGA's operations are distributed to the First Nations Trust, which is then distributed to Saskatchewan First Nations; the Saskatchewan government gets 25 per cent and Community Development Corporation gets 25 per cent.
