Safety issues at second federally licensed medical marijuana grow-op in Calgary

CALGARY - A second federally licensed medical marijuana grow-op in Calgary has been found with several deficiencies.

Safety code officers searched a home on Wednesday and found electrical and water bypasses, illegal wiring, mould and a spider-mite infestation.

Officials say in a release there were even more violations than were found at a federal grow-op in another Calgary home in January.

The house is to remain cordoned off until it is cleaned up.

The home was licensed through Health Canada.

Marijuana for medicinal use has been allowed in Canada for more than a decade.

An estimated one million Canadians use it to treat a variety of health problems.
