A Toronto city councillor is seeking to introduce a motion Monday that will dissolve the Toronto Transit Commission Board.
Coun. Karen Stintz said Friday she is calling on fellow councillors to disband the current nine-person Commission — which includes Stintz — in favour of a new commission.
"I believe in this because the recent weeks have clearly demonstrated an immediate need for stability," Stintz said in a statement Friday. "The Commission must be comprised of people who fully support council’s will."
Stintz is proposing the new commission should be made up of a mix of seven councillors and four citizens.
She said the seven councillor members of the new commission must be selected in a vote by council.
"The membership of a new Commission will not be predetermined as this process will ensure that its composition will reflect the will of council," Stintz said.
