2 Arrested During Occupy Toronto Rally

CP

Police arrested two more protesters with the Occupy Toronto movement early Sunday at a demonstration that was held to denounce the arrests and injuries of other protesters over the weekend.

According to police, officers spoke with the protesters and served them trespass notices, but an arrest was made when one man started screaming and became agitated.

The two were charged with interfering with traffic and mischief.

Protesters had stopped traffic at a demonstration outside Toronto Police Service's 52 Division, on Dundas Street West and University Avenue.

Members of Occupy Toronto were denouncing the arrests of two men and two women during another protest Friday, when protesters clashed with police after being asked to dismantle their tents and fear on University Avenue.

Occupy Toronto members claim that two of the four arrested were victims of police brutality.

Angela Turvey, one of the two injured protesters, appeared in court Saturday with bruised and swollen eyes.

Supporters rallied at Old City Hall Saturday afternoon, calling for police to drop all charges.
