Wildrose says candidates have to call head office before talking to reporters

LEDUC, Alta. - Alberta Wildrose Leader Danielle Smith says her party does not have a gag order on candidates talking to media.

Answering a question from a reporter in Leduc, Smith says there is a policy in place to have candidates call head office before talking to a reporter.

But she says that's just to make sure everyone is on the same page and that no inaccurate information is relayed to the media.

Smith says it just makes sense given that a lot of her candidates have had very little experience talking to the media.

She adds that it's a badge of honour that her candidates are new to public life, saying it reflects the fresh start that her party is trumpeting.
